Bainounah
Power Company (BPC) was formally established as a
public joint stock company under the laws of the UAE
on 1st January 1999. BPC was formed from three
stations from the former Abu Dhabi Water &
Electricity Department (WED), which was unbundled
and then privatized pursuant to enactment of Law No.
2 of 1998. Bainounah Power Company is one of four
power and desalination companies formed out of the
unbundled WED. The three power and desalination
stations were the Abu Dhabi Power Station (ADPS),
the Al Ain Power Station (AAPS), and the Taweelah A
Power Station (TAW A). The fixed assets of Bainounah
Power Company comprise some of the oldest and some
of the newest technology in the Emirate of Abu
Dhabi.
Altogether, Bainounah Power Company has the
installed capacity to produce 1216 MW of electricity
and 44 MGD (million gallons per day) of desalinated
water. At peak capacity, BPC produces approximately
one-third (1/3) of the total electricity and
one-fifth (1/5) of the desalinated water produced by
the former WED.
The Bainounah Power Company is governed by a
Board of Directors composed of 5 members consisting
of Mr. Ahmed Hilal Al Kuwaiti, Chairman; Mr. Abdul
Jaleel Al Khoury, Deputy Chairman; Messrs. Murad
Sulaiman, Omar Azan, and Peter Bateman, members.
BPC is managed by Mr. Abdul Jaleel Al Khoury,
Managing Director; Mr. Murad Sulaiman, Deputy
Managing Director; Mr. Peter Bateman, Station
Manager -- Al Ain; Mr. Patrick Goveas, Station
Manger -- Abu Dhabi; Mr. Jamal Abu Dehya, Finance
Manager; Mr. Ali Al Naeimi, IT Manager; Mr. Peter
Scott, Procurement & Contracts Manager; Mr. Abdul
Aziz Hassan Abdulla, Human Resources Manager and Mr.
Anand, Commercial Manager.
Bainounah Power Company is charged with the task
of managing the assets and staff for the overall
operations and maintenance of the three former WED
power stations. BPC has a multi-national staff of
approximately 750 employees coming from 20 different
countries. |
