Bainounah
Power Company was created on January 1st 1999 by the
Unbundling of Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, and Taweelah A
Power Stations from the previous WED government
organisation under the constitution of Law No. 2 of
1998 defining the control and regulation of the
water & electricity sector. The three stations
were then combined to form an independent company
now known as "Bainounah" Power Company, this
required careful reorganisation of the power
stations under a single effective management
structure together with the simultaneous
introduction of the financial, commercial and
business management functions essential to support
the newly formed organisation.
Throughout this process the company has
maintained reliable supplies of power & water to the
national grid and the potable water distribution
network, and have become compliant with the
requirements and regulations specified under the new
laws governing the IPWP’s. This has meant setting up
the appropriate systems necessary under the power &
water purchase agreements, and of course meeting the
commercial, financial, business and legal
requirements in order to become licensed, and
compete in the newly formed power & water sector.
In achieving these objectives it has been
necessary to ‘Manage Change” in the case of
Bainounah Power Company this has meant identify the
existing useful resources available within the
company, employing them effectively, improving
communications and getting the "key" people
motivated to bring about the changes required.
In doing this Bainounah Power Company has
developed a ‘team spirit’ approach, and we believe
we are now well placed to take advantage of the new
business opportunities which lay ahead. Indeed we
have already demonstrated our capability, resolve
and determination by rapidly responding to the
commercial and economic forces presented to us
during this period of change, and which will shape
the future of the business over the years to come. |
